Labor Day Is NOT just for Mattress Sales!
September 1st marks the 10th year that our State and Nation have kept it legal to pay workers as low as $7.25 an hour (or just over $15,000 a year – if they work 40 hours a week with no vacation. On Labor Day Sunday, September 1st, our Social Justice Team will invite you to renew your commitment to change this painful reality.  Join us in the Hospitality Room to write “love letters” to low wage earners. Join the push for $15 in 5 Years.

Then, after signing a love letter to low-wage workers on Sunday, come help deliver them on Thursday evening, September 5th, 5:30 pm, in the parking lot at 891 Patton Ave. (Sav-Mor & El Que Pasa) After a short rally, we will deliver Love Letters to low wage workers in the area.  Join this act of solidarity and commitment to change.

Final Chat ‘n Snack Coming

It is hard to imagine, but the summer is coming to an end and so too are the Jubilee! Chat ‘n Snacks held at Hanger Hall, 31 Park Avenue, North, Asheville, 28801.  So…wear your bathing suit if you want to swim and bring food to share.  Participating is a great way to meet folks and find your “place” in our Community. We ask for a $5 per adult donation for the band.  This final summer event is sponsored by the Jubilee! Social Justice Team.

Like the Music at our Sunday Celebrations?
…Sunday, September 8th at 6 pm
If you do, there’s a unique opportunity coming up.  You can express your appreciation, support the sound improvements we’re engaged in, AND hear some of the World Beat Band musicians’ favorites in concert!  Not a Sunday Celebration or party setting, this will be a unique chance to hear covers and original songs that they don’t usually get a chance to play. We had hoped that our new stage would be ready for use, but, unfortunately, the construction is taking longer than anticipated.  But the show will go on. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.  Proceeds go to the WBB stage/sound upgrades.

The Beginning of the Beginning
…Sunday, September 15th at 7 pm, Celebration Center
If you want to get in on the ground floor of Amy Steinberg’s Jubilee! Ministry, then you’d better get your sweet butt to her ordination at 7 pm on Sunday, September 15th. Amy Lauren Steinberg will be baptized that morning at the 9:45 Celebration and then officially ordained as our New Chief and Celebrant Whiz that evening. Seven Jubilee! Ministers will take part in the ordination and we will all consecrate her with a laying on of hands. Many hands, followed by some munchies and sippies to toast her success and Jubilee!’s future.  Be there!

The Awakening the Dreamer Symposium Coming to Jubilee!
The Awakening the Dreamer Symposium will take place at Jubilee! on Saturday, September 28th, from 10 am to 1 pm. The Symposium is a special three-hour transformative workshop that explores the challenges facing humanity at this critical moment in time—and the opportunities we as a human family have to create a new future. We’ll look squarely at the state of the world and then explore what role we can play in bringing forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, socially just human presence on this planet. The Symposium consists of presentation segments, short videos, and experiential exercises. There will be an optional 30-minute discussion following the main presentation on opportunities and resources for meaningful local engagement. No charge. Sponsored by the Social Justice Team.
