Have You Pledged?
…Budget to be set on Monday, January 28th!
If you are among the more than 150 folks who have completed your Commitment card, THANKS! If not, we hope you will complete one this Sunday indicating your desire to support the ministries of Jubilee! Community in 2019. Our goal for 2019 is to raise $350,000. Not going to be in the congregation this Sunday and need a card? Give the office a call at (828) 252-5335 or email us at [email protected] and we will get one to you. Ron Katz, Coordinator of the Jubilee! Social Justice Team, recently wrote to the Team, “We are so fortunate to have the Jubilee! Community that brings us together not only on Sundays but on many other days to celebrate with each other and make this world a better place. The 2019 pledge process is well underway, and while many have contributed, there is always room and a need for more. If you have not pledged, please consider doing so.”

The Class will be led by Jubilant Barbara Brady, a Minister of Teaching at Jubilee!, Grief Recovery Specialist and Life Coach.

Living a Multifaceted Gender Identity in a Female Body
…For female-bodied people who experience anything and everything except it all being black and white
Is your gender identity mysterious or often complex? Are you in a female body and also love or identify with masculine expressions or terms? Understanding and connection are such healing and uplifting forces for us,  because many of us have often felt alone or misunderstood in this complexity. Join the series of conversations; 4 Monday evenings in January 2019 – 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th from 7pm to 8:15pm at Jubilee! Suggested donation of $40 for all four classes.  Facilitated by Sarah Thomas, LAc.

Become a Wise OWL
…Wednesday mornings, 10 – 11 am, January 23 – February 27th
In an effort to engage and create community among some of our AARP eligible (50+) folks, we are hosting a weekly StoryCircle. A structured format, talking stick, facilitator, and optional sharing provide comfort and safety. With check-ins and discussion questions, we offer participants an opportunity for meaningful personal interaction. These structured interactions also provide a forum for your ideas, suggestions, and interests to emerge. What would you like the OWL Team to support?

Seeds for Celebration Available
The Seeds are now available in print in the Hospitality Room or online. The Seeds for Celebration will tell you everything you might want to know about our Celebrations for the Via Creativa which starts on Sunday, January 13th. The theme for the quarter is “ Uncovering, Unearthing, Unveiling.” And, if you have a gift of music, dance or story to offer, please email Howard at howard [email protected]

Book Discussion Group
…Starting January 7th at 1:30 pm, Hospitality Room
The book group will regroup again on January 7th to begin reading Arlie Russel Hochschild’s Strangers in Their Own Land. Hochschild (a political progressive) spent five years immersed in the community around Lake Charles, Louisiana, a Tea Party stronghold.  Her goal was to break through the “empathy wall” to understand the thinking and feelings of the American right.  Please join us! Questions? Call Claudia Sherry at (828) 713-3720.

Make a Joyful Noise
…Friday, January 11th at 7 pm
Jacalyn Hunt believes that joy and laughter are essential aspects of a spiritual Life, and she wants to share these with you! So this will be an audience-participation event: First we will share jokes, then funny stories (you know you have them!), then watch some funny YouTube videos, then some sing-alongs and free-form dance to some upbeat music. Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being. You will not leave without feeling uplifted! $10

Write Your Prayers
…Sundays, January 13 & 20 in the Hospitality Room
Did you know that the 1000+ prayer flags hanging in our Celebration Center came down? And did you know that they were burned on New Year’s Day, clearing the space for a new set? On Sunday mornings, January 13th and 20th, you will have an opportunity to add color and blessings by creating your prayers. We will also need help stapling and hanging the flags after the 12:15 pm Celebration on both Sundays.

A Call to Artists!
Let your light shine!  The Art Team wants to fill the Hospitality Room with your art display for February and March.  Please contact Nan Davis ([email protected]) and let’s make a plan.

Empty Bottles Project Ending
We have had such a spectacular response…but we need to put a halt to the project, at least for a while! Please do not bring more empty bottles to Jubilee!. We will let you know when the project resumes. Thank you for your donating thousands of bottles!
