Jubilee! Community Meeting on Immigration|
…Sunday, May 7th at 7 pm in the Celebration Center
There is much concern about what is happening around immigration throughout our country.  While immigration policy has rarely been favorable to those here who are undocumented, it appears to be the most threatening now based not only on the rhetoric from the presidential election but from the executive orders that have recently been issued.

How do these orders and the interpretation of the law affect our immigrant neighbors?  The Jubilee! Board and the Immigrant Rights issue group of the Social Justice Team invite all those interested in learning more to come to Jubilee! on Sunday evening, May 7th, starting at 7 pm, to hear from speakers from Pisgah Legal Services and CIMA (Compañeros Inmigrantes de las Montañas en Acción) who will make presentations and answer your questions.  You will also hear what faith communities in our region are considering and doing to support our immigrant neighbors.  Questions may be directed to Marian Patten, Immigrant Rights Leader, 828-252-5826.

A New Book!
…Discussion begins on Monday, May 22nd
On May 22, we will begin discussion of The More Beautiful World Our Hearts  Know Is Possible, by Charles Eisenstein. From Amazon: “This inspirational and thought-provoking book serves as an empowering antidote to the cynicism, frustration, and paralysis so many of us are feeling, replacing it with a grounding reminder of what’s true: we are all connected, and our small, personal choices bear unsuspected transformational power.” The Book Discussion Group meets every Monday at Jubilee! from 1:30 to 3 pm. Join us!
