LET’S WALK! Monday, July 9th from 5:30 – 7:30 pm
…Meet at New Belgium Brewing
The Next Generation Team (for Jubilants in the 20’s-40’s age range) is walking the Greenway by the river and socializing over food and drinks after, at either Homegrown or New Belgium. Plan to gather at New Belgium located at 21 Craven St. 28806 and expect to walk at least 3 – 4 flat miles, about 1 to 1.5 hours. This is a great, casual opportunity to get some exercise while getting to know each other better! Bring water and good shoes. Dogs and kids (who can either easily walk several miles, or be carried that far) are welcome! Invite your friends too – this event is open to all! If you have any questions, message Team Leader, Stefanie Beierschmitt through Facebook, email [email protected], or text 828-450-6141.
Body Image/Body Wisdom Series for Women with Jackie Dobrinska
…Six Tuesdays, starting July 10th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm
Change the way you see, not the way you look. Imagine if we as women took just SOME of the time, money and energy we spend on obsessing over and changing our bodies and appearance, and instead put it toward our passions, creative endeavors, and passing fancies. We might unleash the internalized corset and recover something powerful, profound, wild and free. This series is NOT asking you to change ANYTHING! (Not what you love, what you hate or what you do. That’s the whole problem to begin with.) Instead, this is a series of authentic conversations with women for women to explore topics we often don’t talk about: Media Culture, Body Shapes, Sizes & Parts, Eating Food, Getting Old, and Cycles. Sign up with Jackie or visit ASimpleVibrantLife.com for more information.

What’s the Difference?
Every Sunday we begin our Celebrations by asking folks to drop money in the Hunger Baskets on the Communion Table. All funds from these baskets go to our outreach giving for agencies that feed the hungry and house the homeless—MANNA Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, Loving Food Resources, Bounty & Soul, Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministries, etc. Then, following the Meditation, we “pass the bowls.” All money that goes into the bowls supports the ongoing operations of the church—salaries, mortgage, utilities, etc. and additional outreach giving. In all, we support 31 different non-profits each quarter to the tune of $86,600 per year. And, in case you are not aware, a large percentage of Jubilants, place money in our bowls through gifts made online. It is an easy and convenient way to support the ministry of your Jubilee! Community. To set up your giving online, just go to the Jubilee! website (www.jubileecommunity.org) and click on the DONATE button at the top of the page.
The Jubilee! Social Justice Team Says…
|Support “Living Wage Certified” Employers
Asheville’s Just Economics has created the largest living wage certification network in the nation. To find out which local businesses are certified, go to www.justeconomicswnc. org, then click the “Living Wage Certified Employers” tab in the upper center to get a downloadable .pdf file to print. Also ask each place you shop or eat, “Are you Living Wage Certified?” With your daily spending you can give hope to our neighbors struggling with low wages.
