Who Are the New Jubilee! Board Members?
…Welcome Bill, Catherine, Pam, Molly!
Four Jubilants began their three-year term on the Jubilee! Board of Directors on July 1st. They are Bill Byrne, Catherine Cope, Pam Garrett and Molly Pritchard. During the months of July and August we will be introducing each to you. They bring a world of experience both inside and outside of Jubilee!.
In this issue, we will be featuring Catherine Cope who has been attending Jubilee! for roughly seven years. She says, “Isn’t it amazing how quickly they’ve accumulated!” When asked about her reasons for being willing to serve on the Board, Catherine replied, “First, I’d enjoy experiencing business done while the ‘main thing’ remains the “main thing.’ Secondly, I’d enjoy the community of it…and perhaps time away from parenting two little kids. Finally, maybe I can be helpful with the upcoming transitions.” To the question, What thoughts and suggestions for Jubilee!’s future growth could you bring to the Board? she stated, “I believe extreme beliefs result in exclusion. I believe Jubilee! needs to ensure its message of inclusion doesn’t become intertwined with politically correct behavior, politics or advocacy through a message of anger and judgement. It’s easy in our times to judge and compete. How radical would it be for Jubilee! to remain steady in non-judgement/non-violence and, instead, remain a place for celebration of the divine in all of life.”
Donate Appreciated Securities to Jubilee! It’s a “Win-Win” Deal!
If you have securities (stocks, mutual funds, etc.) that have appreciated in value, you might want to consider donating a portion to Jubilee! as a way to honor your pledge. The gift of appreciated securities is a “win-win” situation for both you and the Jubilee! Community. First, you win by avoiding capital gains taxes. With a donation directly to Jubilee! you are able to realize their full value as a charitable deduction. This is especially important if you still plan to itemize your deductions with the new tax code in effect. Second, Jubilee! can sell your gift at full market value with no tax liability since our Community is a 501(c)3 non-profit. The process is simple. Talk with Don Fortuna, our Administrator, to get the details. E-mail [email protected] or call (828) 252-5335.
A Stepping Stone to Housing
We will be hosting Room in the Inn the week of July 29th and, as usual, we will need cooks, drivers, evening hosts and night innkeepers. Not only do we offer food and a safe place to sleep, but also a stepping stone to permanent housing. Can you help? Contact Carol Greenspan at (828) 298-6066 or [email protected]
Want to Know the status of Your Pledge to Jubilee!?|
We know your are busy! We know that keeping up with the status of your pledge may not be number 1 on your “to do” list! If you are curious where you stand, we will be happy to give you that information as we enter the second half of 2018. To find out, please email Don Fortuna, our Administrator, at [email protected] or call him at (828) 252-5335. If he is not available, just leave a message on voice mailbox 1 and he will get back to you ASAP. Thanks again for being a vital, contributing member of Jubilee!.
