Have You Ever Needed a Helping Hand?
Had a surgery, a birth or death, a life-changing diagnosis, a challenge as you age, or simply the everyday demands of a culture without community? Then you know the love and support of others is what matters.
Announcing the Jubilee! Care and Compassion Team. Our mission is to foster lasting and meaningful relationships among Jubilants! by providing short-term assistance to community members needing compassionate care. We seek to empower each other as individuals and as a community by providing care in times of crisis that falls within our capacity. What does this mean? As team members, you will receive emails listing opportunities to help. Sign up at the table in the Hospitality Room. Questions? Contact Lauren Fortuna at email@example.com or Jackie Dobrinska at 828-252-5335 x 3# or jldobrinska@ gmail.com. Almost 100 folks have signed up so far, but more volunteers are needed. Many hands make for light work!
Sound from Alpha to Omega…Mondays, January 11, 18 & 25 at 7 pm
All we’ll be doing in this three-week workshop is experiencing a whole new way of perceiving reality…We’ll learn to recognize and take advantage of your sonic nature. We’ll explore the seemingly magical process of internalizing the external. And we’ll draw on the ancient mystical wisdom of Yosemite Sam to shift your perspective. Contact Daniel at firstname.lastname@example.org for further details.
You Are Cordially Invited to Co-create Our Future…
Friday, January 15th, 2016
Jubilee! is now 26 years of age and growing! We need you to help define what we might look like in 3 – 5 years and explore how we will get there. The Board of Directors is inviting each and every Jubilant to the Jubilee! World Cafe – a highly interactive and participatory visioning process. (Drinks will be available.) Sign up with a board member in the Hospitality Room before January 5th. Join us on January 15, from 7—9 pm. It will be fun and it does not cost anything!
Advanced Care & After Death Directives Workshop…Coming in February
By settling the matters of your world and making decisions ahead of time, you create an opportunity to enter your end of life, the moment of death and what may follow, with greater awareness and freedom. You leave a gift to your loved ones – the information they will need to make decisions on your behalf – they will know how to express your voice when you cannot speak for yourself.
To begin the process, we will be offering a 9 hour class, held over 3 Saturdays, February 20, 27, and March 5, 2016, meeting 9 am till noon. You will attend all three classes. The fee is $75. The goal of these classes is that you will be educated about your options and leave with a notarized set of directives. The Center for the End of Life Transitions is not offering legal advice. However, they will offer you information to make your own informed choices and decisions.
Jubilee is offering you the opportunity to begin and complete or to revise and update your documents. On Saturday, February 13, 2016, we are offering a REFRESHER course for those of you who attended our documents class with the Center for End of Life Transitions (CEOLT) in the past. This “refresher” will be held 9 am till noon. Please bring your completed documents. The fee is $20. Contact Linda Siegall at email@example.com or at 828-280-1091 to sign up .
Talent Project $
Our 2015 Talent Project has come to a conclusion. We are delighted to say that we raised $6,600 to help keep folks warm this winter. The money will be split with three agencies in the following amounts: Eblen Foundation—40% Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministries—40% and the Furnace Repair Fund of Mountain Housing Opportunities— 20%. Good work, Jubilants!
Seeds for Celebration Available
Hot off the press! Pick up a copy in the Hospitality Room or read them on the Jubilee! website at www.jubileecommunity.org. The Seeds will tell you everything you might want to know about our Celebrations for the Via Creativa which concludes on March 20th. The theme for the quarter is “Tree Talk.” And if you have a gift of music, dance, poetry or prose, get in touch with Howard as soon as possible. His email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Make Your Prayer Flag
As one year ends and a new year begins, it means the 2015 prayer flags came down and were released into the New Year’s Day bonfire thus setting the stage (or empty rafters) for your 2016 flags. On January 10th and 17th the Earth Team welcomes you to share your prayers and blessings. Be simple, be creative and let’s beat last year’s record of 750 flags. It’s free, just stop in the Hospitality Room. Make 1 or 10 flags. One rule this year….no politics please!
Completed Your Commitment Card?
Over 250 Jubilants have completed their Commitment card so far. And, we say, THANKS! If not, we hope you will this Sunday indicating your support for the ministries of Jubilee! in 2016. If the card in your bulletin has been used, you will find blank cards on the counter in the Hospitality Room or at the Welcome Table in the Entry Area. The Jubilee! Board will be setting our 2016 budget on Monday evening, January 18th. The Commitment Cards tell us how much money we will be able to utilize in 2016 to support the ministries of Jubilee!
