Calling All Knitters & Crocheters
…Tuesdays, November 28, December 5, 12 & 19 at 1 pm
Want to help make hats for refugee kids? Our goal is to make 300 FUN, Warm, colorful animal hats for refugee kids. So, what we need help with is: 1) knitting and crocheting hats…best to make them so the brim rolls up. These fit more ages of kids. They also need to be warm, colorful, and if you have any soft yarn, kids love when they are soft. 2) If you can join us, come to the “Sip and Stitch” parties at Jubilee! on Tuesdays at 1 pm on November 28th, December 5th, 12th and 19th. Bring a beverage to share or a snack to share. We will also be “de-beaning” stuffed animals, stuffing them, sewing up their tummies, and then sewing the stuffed animals on the hats. You can check out more on www.gofundme.com/Animal-Hats-for-Refugee-Kids. 3) If you have a cute, CLEAN, small (no bigger than a TY beanie baby) stuffed animal bring it with you. Contact Joan Naylor (828) 231-1692 with questions.
Santas Needed for Children in Foster Care
…Select a child starting Sunday, December 3rd
On Sunday, December 3rd, you will find 75 ornaments hanging on the Jubilee! Christmas tree in the Hospitality Room. Each ornament represents a child who is in foster care in Buncombe County. Each ornament also shares vital information about the child and their hopes for Christmas gifts. Want to be a “Santa”? Plan on spending about $100 per child, a little less for younger children, perhaps a little more for teens. Too much to spend? Join with a friend and do it together. Or, if you do not want to do the shopping, you may write a check to Jubilee! and we will handle the shopping for you. Return the gifts to Jubilee! no later than Sunday, December 17th. Please do not wrap your gifts as they must be inspected by the foster parents before they can be given to the child. And, please be sure that your ornament with the child’s name is securely attached.
