Have You Pledged? Your Support Is Needed Now More than Ever!
If you have completed your Commitment card, THANKS! If not, we hope you will complete one this Sunday indicating your desire to support the ministries of Jubilee! Community in 2017. In light of the election results, giving to helping agencies will probably be needed more than ever. Your giving will make Jubilee!’s giving possible. Thanks!
Celebrating the Jubilee! Team Leaders
…Monday, December 19th at 6:30 pm
Our Team Leaders are the heart of Jubilee! And it’s that time of year where we get to celebrate… not just Advent, Hanukkah, Solstice, Christmas, Kwanzaa, New Year, and Epiphany, but the time and effort that our Team Leaders give as well. So, the Team Leaders are invited to join the Jubilee! Staff and Board for our A.H.S.C.K.NY.E. Christmas Party on Monday, December 19, 6:30 – 8 pm at Hanger Hall. All food and drinks will be provided. To merriment, joy and keeping the main thing the main thing! And in great thanks for our Team Leaders.
Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Celebrations at 5 or 10 pm
You are cordially invited to participate in a Jubilee! tradition…the Candlelight Communion Celebrations at either 5 pm or 10 pm on Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24th. Child care will be available at the 5 pm service for children who can walk to 6 years. The Child Care Room for children who can walk through 6 years of age will open at 4:30 pm and will close at 6 pm. Come early for a good seat.
Only One Celebration on Christmas Day at 11:15 am
…It will be a party!
On Christmas morn, we’re having a party. And YOU are invited. Instead of our regular morning celebrations, we will celebrate Christ’s birth with a birthday party at 11:15 only! You are invited to bring munchies and drinks to share. You may wear party clothes or just come in your jammies and robe. Jesus doesn’t care about what clothes you’re wearing. We will sing Christmas Carols and share what it means that Jesus is born. Party on, Jubilants!
Two Celebrations on New Year’s Day
…at 9:45 & 11:15 am, but no 8:30 am Celebration
Every seven years or so, Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on a Sunday. So…What should we do? Believing that not too many Jubilants are going to be “up and at ‘em” on that Sunday morning at 8:30 am, we have decided not to have an 8:30 am Celebration. However, please join us at either 9:45 or 11:15 am. The Nurture Program will be happening at 9:45 am.
$5,000 Has Become, TaDa…$12,600!
Wow!!! Thanks to all who have contributed gifts, both large and small, to our Matching Funds Campaign. The original $5000 gift has been more than matched! And because of these gifts we have now been able to send all our 3rd Quarter Outreach Giving checks. Thank you for responding in such a dramatic and powerful way.
Interested in Issues of Social Justice?
On Sunday, December 11th, after each of the celebrations, there will be a meeting to discuss the creation of a Jubilee! Social Justice team. If you have questions, contact Ron Katz at ronkatz [email protected] or at 768-4559.
Talent Project $$$
If you have any Talent Project money to turn in, please place it in an envelope, mark it as “Talent $” and place it in the offering basket by Sunday, January 1, 2017. We would like to have all the money in so we can get it into the hands of folks who need it. The dollars will be split with 40% going to the Eblen Foundation, 40% to Swannanoa Valley Christian ministries and 20% to the Heating Fund of Mountain Housing Opportunities.
It’s a Christmas Party!
Mark Thursday, December 15th on your calendars from 7—9 pm. Howard and Don are hosting a Holiday Party at Hanger Hall, 31 Park Avenue, North. Be sure to bring cash or checks to contribute toward the Jubilee! Talent Project to keep folks warm. Live music, beverages and light snacks will be provided. Be sure to dress up as you think “dress up” ought to be!
If you chose a child in foster care to purchase Christmas gifts for, please get those gifts to Jubilee! by Sunday, December 18th. Please do not wrap the gifts. Just put them in a plastic bag and securely attach the ornament to the outside. The gifts must be checked by foster parents prior to their delivery on Christmas morning!
Pancakes & More!
Jubilants Terry Deal and Genevieve Fortuna will be serving hot pancakes in the Hospitality Room on Sunday, December 18th from 10:45 am till 12:30 pm to generate money for our Talent Project. This is a 23 year tradition. Jackie Dobrinska, our Coordinator of Community Life, says, “We’ll also have extra coffee, holiday treats, kids running around burning off excess sugar, and a few rousing rounds of carols. Come downstairs between the Celebrations… about 10:45 am for Coffee, Conversation & Carols.”
