Have You Pledged?
…Your Support Is Needed Now More than Ever!
If you are among the more than 130 folks who have completed your Commitment card, THANKS! If not, we hope you will complete one this Sunday indicating your desire to support the ministries of Jubilee! Community in 2019. Our goal for 2019 is to raise $350,000. Not going to be in the congregation this Sunday and need a card? Give the office a call at (828) 252-5335 or email us at [email protected] and we will get one to you. Ron Katz, Coordinator of the Jubilee! Social Justice Team recently wrote to the Team, “We are so fortunate to have the Jubilee! Community that brings us together not only on Sundays but on many other days to celebrate with each other and make this world a better place. It is so important that all of us support our “Community” financially. The 2019 pledge process is well underway, and while many have contributed, there is always room and a need for more. If you have
not pledged, please consider doing so. There are no recommended levels, just the amount that feels right for you.”

Book Discussion Group
The book group will regroup again on January 7th to begin reading Arlie Russel Hochschild’s Strangers in Their Own Land. Hochschild (a political progressive) spent five years immersed in the community around Lake Charles, Louisiana, a Tea Party stronghold. Her goal was to break through the “empathy wall” to understand the thinking and feelings of the American right. From the Economist: “An astute study of America’s culture war drawn from the perspective of the white conservatives who feel they are losing it.” Please join us! Questions? Call Claudia Sherry at (828) 713-3720.
