Have You Made Your Pledge of Financial Support?
No pledge is too small!
We have come a long way with our pledge campaign, but we are not there yet.  We are currently at 82% of our goal, but we cannot make it to the finish line without the participation of all Jubilants.  No pledge is too small or too large, and your gift will ensure that we can take care of our staff and continue our generous outreach.  Please fill out that pledge card and return it today!

The Jubilee! Book Discussion Group
…Resumes on Monday, January 8th at 1:30 pm
Jubilee’s Book Group meets every Monday at 1:30 in the Hospitality Room, and we always welcome new members.  On January 8th, we will begin discussion of God: A Human History, by Reza Aslan.  From Amazon: “In layered prose and with thoughtful, accessible scholarship, Aslan narrates the history of religion as a remarkably cohesive attempt to understand the divine by giving it human traits and emotions… More than just a history of our understanding of God, this book is an attempt to get to the root of this humanizing impulse in order to develop a more universal spirituality. Whether you believe in one God, many gods, or no god at all, God: A Human History will challenge the way you think about the divine and its role in our everyday lives.”  Please join us!  Questions?  Call Claudia Sherry: 713-3720.

“Talent Project” Money
If you have any Talent Project money (i.e. money to keep folks warm this winter) to turn in, please place it in an envelope, mark it as “Talent $” and place it an offering basket by Sunday, January 7th, 2018.  We would like to get it in the hands of folks who need it.  The dollars will be split with 40% going to the Eblen Foundation, 40% to the Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministries and 20% to the Furnace Repair Fund of Mountain Housing Opportunities.

Creation Spirituality Communities Gathering
April 26—29, 2018
Jubilee! is hosting the National Creation Spirituality Communities Gathering in April of next year. We are looking for two short-term rental houses that can accommodate 6—8 people each. One house would be for young adults who want to attend the gathering; the other would be for Creation Spirituality ministers/leaders. Please contact Vicki Garlock at [email protected] if you have suggestions.

Seeds for Celebration Available
The Seeds are now available on line or in print in the Hospitality Room. The Seeds for Celebration  will tell you everything you might want to know about our Celebrations for the Via Creativa which starts on Sunday, January 14th. The theme for the quarter is “Mother of Invention.”  And, if you have a gift of music, dance or story to offer, email Jackie at [email protected]

Write Your Prayers…
Did you know that the 1000+ prayer flags hanging in our Celebration Center will be coming down? Correct, and did you know that they will be burned on New Year’s Day, clearing the space for a new batch?  On Sundays, January 14th and 21st, you will have an opportunity to add color and blessings by creating your prayers. We will also  need help stapling and hanging the flags after the 12:15 pm Celebration on both Sundays. Join in this Jubilee! tradition.

The Jubilee! Office will be closed on Monday & Tuesday, December 25th & 26th and on Monday, January 1st, 2018. Happy Holy-Days!

On Sunday, Jan. 7, we’ll move into Via Creativa. Our theme this year is World Creation Stories. We start with the Bible stories in Genesis 1-2. After that, we’re all over the map as we read stories from a variety of traditions, including:

North American Indian –  Earth on the Turtle’s Back, How Grandmother Spider Stole the Sun, and How a Crow Brought Daylight

Chinese– How the World Came from an Egg and How a Lonely Goddess Filled the World with People

Greek– the myth of Persephone and Demeter

Australian Aboriginal –  Why Frogs Can only Croak and How the Kangaroo Got her Pouch

The kids also learn about the Big Bang theory and Evolution.
