Laudato Si’ (May You Be Praised) – A Guided Study & Discussion
Join Creation Care Alliance’s Chas Jansen reading the Pope’s Encyclical Laudato Si’ — On Care for Our Common Home, one chapter at a time with discussion questions available in advance. The six Monday evening classes will focus on climate science, creation gospel, humanity’s role, “Integral Ecology,” policy directions, and changing within. The discussion will start on Monday, September 19th at Jubilee! from 6 to 7: 15 pm. In Laudato Si’, Pope Francis asks, “What kind of world do we want to leave to those who come after us, to children who are now growing up?” Despite disturbing ecological news, daunting challenges presented today by technology and excessive self-centeredness, as well as growing injustices visited upon the poor analyzed in this encyclical, Francis nevertheless threads a heartening message of hope through the entire document.

Jubilee! Goes to Nicaragua?
Jubilee! has been a supporter of Jubilee House in Nicaragua for many years. Jubilee House’s mission is to enable communities to become self-sufficient, sustainable, democratic entities. They provide work in agriculture, public health and education. Several Jubilants have indicated interest in going on a volunteer work trip to Jubilee House and they have suggested we consider bringing a group of 12—20 during the week of January 21 -29. Interested? Contact Patrick Fitzsimmons at firstname.lastname@example.org. or 828-777-2495. Let’s get organized. Please note that the trip involves work, but time is also spent learning about the culture of the Nicaraguan people.
