Blessing of the Animals
It happens every year on the 1st Sunday in October which is also known as St. Francis Sunday.  So, locate the pet shampoo, find the leash, and bring your pet to Jubilee! to be blessed.  For the safety of people and other pets, we ask that all pets be under your control at all times, either on a leash or in some kind of container.  Join us on October 2nd.

What’s Sound Got to Do with It?
…Sunday, October 9th, 7—8:30 pm
One workshop, one Sunday, one life. You know music and sound are cool and fun stuff, but can they pay the bills?  Can sound mend your wounds?  Can it offer any REAL solutions to your current challenges?  Come find out how, and learn the five points of re-alignment to Sounding Yourself.  For more information, go to danielbarber. com/sound-yourself or leave a message at (828) 775-6287.

Successfully Navigating the Via Negativa
…Four consecutive Tuesday evenings, October 11 – November 1st, 7—9 pm
At times life seems like a journey through a minefield. In the blink of an eye we can be up to our eyes in a cesspool of dark, reactive feelings—anger, sadness, unworthiness, failure, helplessness and hopelessness.  In this series we will be exploring questions like…What happens when we attempt to ignore the darkness?  What does forgiveness or letting go really mean? We will also focus upon developing our inner abilities to successfully navigate the Via Negativa. Led by Dr. David Robertson,  this series is designed to take the participant beyond the fluffy “new age” philosophy of denying our pain, covering it with fairy dust and riding off on a pretty unicorn.    We will walk directly into the pain and gain from it. Sponsored by the Spiritual Journey Team, a $10 suggested donation/class is requested.

Zen Meditation
…Thursdays, October 13—November 10
th at 6:30 pm. Drop in for one or all!
Join Sunya Kjolhede and Lawson Sachter,  co-abbots of Windhorse Zen Community, each with 45 years of Zen practice, on a journey of Zen  Meditation which offers a dynamic and penetrating practice…a simple, time-proven way to help us dive beneath the churning waves of thought, to personally ex-perience the beauty, dignity and wholeness of our own fundamental nature. An Adult Nurture event. By donation.

Coffee, Conversation & Crafts
Join your fellow Jubilants in coffee, conversations and more on October 9th after both celebrations.  We will spend some time getting to know other Jubilants and creating decorations for the Sukkah that will be hanging in the Celebration Center. The Sukkah is a natural structure, hung with fruits and vegetables that marks the end of the harvest time in the Jewish tradition.

Join the Discussion
Jubilee!’s Book Group meets every Monday at 1:30 pm and we always welcome new members.  On October 10, we will begin discussion of Between the World and Me, by Ta-Nehisi Coates. This book is a #1 NY Times bestseller and a National Book Winner.  From The New York Observer: “This is a bold and personal literary exploration of America’s racial history by ‘the single best writer on the subject of race in the United States.’” Questions?  Call Claudia at 713-3720.

Let Your Imagination Loose!
Join Jubilant actors Lauren Fortuna and Willie Repoley at the NC Stage Company’s production of WVL Radio Theater as they tell a series of classic American horror stories.  October 12 – 16 at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. Four actors, live sound effects, and original music transport you back to 1946 when the imagination created horrors far more vivid than any that might actually be lurking in your living room!
