Understanding the Spiritual Self
…Sundays, January 24 and 31, February 14 & 21 at 2 pm

You are probably like the rest of us, living in a ceaseless struggle between mind and emotion, ideas and feelings, success and failure. The problem with living life in that manner is there is never any resolve, only more struggle. That place from which our peace and power come from is called our “spiritual self” and that is the self we have to invoke, understand and become familiar with so that we can let that all-knowing part of us flow through us. This 4 week study series is sponsored by the Spiritual Journey Team. Questions? Visit the SJT link on the Jubilee! website or contact David Robertson at mountaintwin@yahoo.com.

Advanced Care & After Death Directives Workshop
…Coming in February

Each of us will die, not one person will be left out and the time of your death is unknown. Most of us want to believe we have plenty of time to make arrangements for the death event. Some of us think it’s too depressing, would rather do something fun, we avoid the topic.

By settling the matters of your world and making decisions ahead of time, you create an opportunity to enter your end of life, the moment of death and what may follow, with greater awareness and freedom. You leave a gift to your loved ones – the information they will need to make decisions on your behalf – they will know how to express your voice when you cannot speak for yourself.

To begin the process, we will be offering a 9 hour class, held over 3 Saturdays, February 20, 27, and March 5, 2016, meeting 9 am till noon. You will attend all three classes. The fee is $75. The goal of these classes is that you will be educated about your options and leave with a notarized set of directives. The Center for the End of Life Transitions is not offering legal advice. However, they will offer you information to make your own informed choices and decisions.

Jubilee! is offering you the opportunity to begin and complete or to revise and update your documents. On Saturday, February 13, 2016, we are offering a REFRESHER course for those of you who attended our documents class with the Center for End of Life Transitions (CEOLT) in the past. This “refresher” will be held 9 am till noon. Please bring your completed documents. The fee is $20.  Contact Linda Siegall at lsiegall@yahoo.com or at 828-280-1091 to sign up .

This Year’s Elections Are So Important! Are You Prepared?
For example, are you registered to vote at your current address under your current name?  Are you aware of the changes to the voting law in North Carolina and have the proper ID to vote?  Did you know the primary election this year is March 15th, and the deadline to register to vote is February 19th?  If you didn’t know or weren’t aware, Ron Katz at (828) 768-4559 is available to assist. If you are interested in helping with the effort this year, please email Ron at ronkatz327@gmail.com.

2016 Budget Set
The Jubilee! Board met on Mon- day evening, January 18th, and set our 2016 budget at $503,589. This amount is about $10,000 over our actual expenses in 2015. Since the results of our visioning process, held on Friday night, January 15th, have not been fully processed, ap-proximately $21,000 has been set aside to address the results. Decisions related to this will be made at our February gathering.

Office Supplies Needed
Howard will be going to the Jubilee! House in Nicaragua in early February. We will be collecting office supplies which he will take with him thru Sunday, January 31st. Here are the needs: #10 peal and stick envelopes, forever US postage stamps, dry erase markers, blue & black ballpoint pens, permanent Sharpie Markers, USB mice and keyboards, used Windows laptop computers and used smart phones. A collection bin is in the Entry Area.

Parking at Wick & Greene?
If you park in the Wick & Greene Jewelry store on Patton Avenue, please stop. The store is now open on Sundays, and they need the space. They are very kind to allow us to park in their lot south of the Downtown Hotel on Asheland Avenue until 12:30 pm on Sundays. However, if you leave your car past that time, you will be towed.

Reading Glasses for Haiti
Jubilant Terry Deal will once again be collecting NEW reading glasses to distribute to villagers in the rural mountains of Haiti.  A collection box is in the Entry Area. The last day to bring donations will be Sunday, February 21. Many thanks to all who bring glasses!

Performing!
Jubilant Lauren Fortuna, former Team Leader of the Jubilee! Players, will be performing in the North Carolina Stage Company’s current production of Jeeves Intervenes which opens on January 27.
