Imbolc Ritual & Celebration
…Sunday, February 4th, 3 pm in the Celebration Center
Come celebrate the fullness of life with Imbolc at Jubilee! Imbolc is halfway between the dark of winter and the beginning of spring.  At this time of year, winter is hanging on a bit too long, and in the depths of the greyness, we say yes to life.  Feel the spark and nurture it into its fullness.  Kirtan and music with Amah Mitchell, ceremony by the amazing Byron Ballard, followed by circle dancing and more.  There is no charge…admission is by donation.

Interfaith Evening of Story & Song

Byron Ballard from Mother Grove Goddess Temple with tales of Imbolc and the Feastday of Brigid, Ashiya and some of her friends from the Asheville Baha’i Center, Greg Lathrop with narratives and tunes from the Cherokee tradition, and (hopefully) some kirtan music! Program from 6-7:15 pm. Light refreshments and informal conversation from 7:15 -8 pm.

The Jubilee! Book Discussion Group Resumes
…It is not too late to join the group!
Jubilee’s Book Group is always eager to welcome new members.  We meet every Monday at 1:30 pm in the Hospitality Room.  On January 29th, we began a discussion of The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness, by Michelle Alexander. From Amazon: “Once in a great while a book comes along that changes the way we see the world and helps to fuel a nationwide social movement. The New Jim Crow is such a book… With dazzling candor, legal scholar Michelle Alexander argues that ‘we have not ended racial caste in America; we have merely redesigned it.’ …the U.S. criminal justice system functions as a contemporary system of racial control—relegating millions to a permanent second-class status—even as it formally adheres to the principle of colorblindness. …This book is a ‘call to action.'” Please join us! Questions? Call Abigail Elzroth: (308) 360-3236.

Your Enlightened Pelvis
…4 week series for women starting February 27th at 6:30 pm
Every woman holds her story, her ancestral story, and usually the story of her tribe in her body. The problem is that the busy modern woman hasn’t been given tools to release the heavy emotions and unlock the powerful secrets she holds. “Light-In Your Pelvis” is where the physical meets the spiritual.  It will connect each woman to her body to “lighten” the collective and personal trauma and unlock the secret sacred power held but rarely called forth. Expect to experience more physical light-ness, improved yoga posture awareness, pelvic mobility, and greater ease in managing and understanding various conditions.  Women participants only, please. Suggested Reading: Wild Feminine by Tami Lynn Kent. The course/series will be taught by Ruth Elliot, Physical Therapist and owner of Asheville Holistic Physical Therapy. (www.ashevilleholisticpt.com)

The Jubilee! Board asked and the Jubilee! Community responded! 271 pledges were made…18 more than 2017. The total of our pledges came to $363,607. Thanks to this increase, the Board was able to set the budget at $500,273.
